"Titled the same as Azure Ryder's song, 'Stir the Dust', the lyrics 'turning scars into art' summarise the emotions behind this piece. There is beauty that can be found in difficult times, when we come face-to-face with the darkest parts of ourselves and choose to keep fighting."
Based in Brisbane, Francie Fran is a contemporary figurative artist whose works have been exhibited locally and internationally. Through her pieces, Francie explores and shares her personal experiences, using art as a means of processing them.
She began oil painting in 2021. Over time, a series of works emerged known as her ‘Sad Girl’ series, which includes both ‘Stir the Dust’ and ‘Reborn’.
Reflected in the faces of the women she was painting, Francie began to process and understand the anxiety and depression she was experiencing. Painting became the therapy that fueled her recovery.
Through art, Francie seeks to capture a feeling of freedom and inspire others to find their own path towards self-discovery and growth.
