Riding the Wave
Jay is a Brisbane-based artist whose practice is deeply connected to her experience of living with bipolar I disorder. Painting is her sanctuary-a space where chaos becomes colour and emotion takes form. Through intuitive, layered works inspired by nature, patterns, and the ocean, Jay explores the highs, lows, and in-betweens of her mind.
For Jay, art is a vital outlet - a way to release energy, process emotion, and return to peace. Her works speak to visibility, honesty, and connection. If her art offers someone a moment of calm, a sense of joy, or simply helps them feel less alone, then that connection is where the true power of art resides.

'Riding the Wave', part of my Ocean Series, was created during a manic phase of my bipolar 1. It captures the raw energy of a crashing wave alongside the calmness of the swell - reflecting both emotional release and balance. The ocean, like my mind, is unpredictable yet deeply inspiring. This piece speaks to resilience, transformation, and emotional depth. It invites viewers into that space of duality, offering connection, reflection, and movement.
