As an artist, Yvonne draws inspiration from emotions and lived experiences. Her aim is to convey the sentiments that resonate with her or convey a specific awareness to the viewer.
Having survived a major stroke, Yvonne's recovery journey has provided her with invaluable insights into life that she portrays through her artwork. The physical, emotional and mental challenges she faced have helped her understand that every thought, feeling and situation can elicit both negative and positive responses.
Yvonne's art aspires to instil an optimistic mindset through themes of hope, growth and healing. By evoking these emotions, she hopes to inspire viewers to find positivity in their own lives and see the potential for growth and transformation even in difficult circumstances.

This artwork presents a surreal depiction of the human mind’s resilience and the healing process.
The head with the zipper half undone reveals an opening into the hidden consciousness.
In this vulnerable view, the brain is visible but not unblemished. The band-aid on the wound symbolises the beginning of the healing process: wounds of the mind, though often unseen, are as real and care worthy as those of the body.
Acknowledge the wound and allow it to be treated to begin healing.
