Monica has always been an artist in varying forms. She paints in oils on canvas or linen, and illustrates books in gouache on cotton paper. She leans towards figurative and portraiture and has a traditional contemporary style.
Monica hopes to present a new way of seeing ourselves in all our flaws and features and finding acceptance and love for who we are.
Monica has experienced mental health challenges most of her life and has developed a wide range of creative outlets to support her goals of resilience, regulation, emotional intelligence and self-love.

Fresh starts and new beginnings arrive with every day. It's a new thought, a new intention and courage to take the next step.
I painted this painting 'en plain air' (in the open air) with a community of artists, most of whom I'd never met before. It was a beautiful day, set amongst the trees and I'm glad I stepped out of my comfort zone to create new beginnings.
