Sue Yule is a Brisbane/Meanjin-based oil painter, exploring the themes of nature and botanicals. Sue's love of painting is driven by her fascination of how light moves across the subjects she paints.
Although she has had no formal training, Sue participated in a folk-art class and as soon as she painted her first brush stroke she was hooked.
Sue has had bipolar since she was 17-years-old but had a late diagnosis at 40. Over the years she has found painting to be a constant in her life, something she could always rely on.
Sue also suffers from chronic pain and fatigue causing her paintings to be influenced by her surroundings - painting still life subjects from around her home.

I live with my daughter, she has over 100 pot plants, some large ones and some in bottles of water. I used to use nature to inform my art but I can't get outdoors as much as I used to so it is wonderful being surrounded by such greenery. This is a painting of one of her tiny succulent gardens.
