When Johnny first arrived in Australia, he was an art teacher. Yet faced with a new country and unfamiliar culture, he found it challenging to adapt his painting skills and concepts to this environment. Choosing to set aside his brushes for a time, he paused to reflect on his new life. Over the years, through visits to museums and art galleries, Johnny gradually found fresh inspiration. This journey allowed him to express his feelings through art once more and to develop a distinctive new style.

I painted this piece to express the ferociousness of bushfires, which are a natural occurrence in Australia. The bright colours and the painful sounds of burnt trees are depicted in this painting.  Although they cause great destruction, they cleanse the forest and birth new life from the ashes. The fire also represents my passion for art, and the struggle I went through to be reborn and find my artistic style again.
