Alison is primarily a printmaker and ink artist exploring the way we express reality through narrative-based artworks.

In 2016, while studying a Masters of Art in Visual Art, she was diagnosed with obsessive compulsive personality disorder, anxiety, depressive episodes, and obsessive perfectionism. After completing her studies, this diagnosis and subsequent treatment led her art practice in an introspective direction, landing in a solo exhibition examining the mental struggle mindscape.

To this day, she is still examining stories of the mental mindscape through narrative artworks, while running a busy gallery on the north side of Brisbane.

For a long time, I made myself smaller so others could appear bigger; more important. The flipside of that was feeling insignificant myself. One day, I decided it was time to change - a decision that was both liberating and terrifying. It remains a challenge not to slip back into the comfort of being unseen, quiet, and unimportant. But now, I remind myself daily: do not shrink to make others comfortable. Do not make yourself small for anyone.
