Renae is an emerging artist based in Meanjin/Brisbane. She began painting with the West End Art Gang in 2024 as part of her PTSD recovery, using creativity to support her mental health. Inspired by nature and the organic forms she encounters while bushwalking, Renae finds calm and joy in the process of mixing colours and applying them intuitively to her work.

'Creek Connections' is about feeling grounded in nature and community. When painting, I was thinking about happy times spent by creeks with friends - both as a child at Simpsons Falls, Mt Coot-tha, and as an adult volunteering with the Norman Creek Catchment Committee. Being in nature and painting its organic forms helps me to feel connected to myself and to others. I painted this piece as a member of the Art Gang at West End Community House.
