Duane Doyle is a proud Jimen (yimen) artist. He identifies with his mother’s animal totem, the googoobing (scrub turkey).
Duane uses his art to honour the Googoobing today, by sharing the stories of the Gumoo Wongara (one water) and reconciling with non-indigenous people by building co-existence and breaking down fears.
His work explores stencilling, dot and line-work that draws from the old traditions to create contemporary artworks distinctly by a man who uses old time culture as a guide to living in modern times.
Duane is a proud member of the West End Art Gang.

The Corrobboree is very important to me as I make my way as a Jiman Man living in Brisbane. My community is a collection of diverse people from all walks of life, and we make Corrobboree regularly. This artwork is about how it maintains unity and harmony in our lives. Using symbols from the past in a contemporary way to depict strong bonds arising from the wisdom of the past.
