Artworks are first available for purchase by sponsors and dignitaries before being available in person at the Exhibition in Brisbane. Unsold artworks can also be purchased online following the event.
"The abandoned towers are overrun with flowers; the vines grow while no one watches. Out of the gaze of any human eyes, the flowers bloom in all their beauty. No one needs to be present; their beauty will bloom regardless.
I created this piece after a period of isolation, remembering how beneficial and necessary it can be to remember."
Brisbane-based artist Imogen Trotter works under the name Serpent's Sun. This name came from the positive effect that art has had on Imogen's mental health. As with the serpent, art is their sun; that which allows them to maintain themselves.
Visual art has been an important creative outlet for Imogen. They use an intuitive method of drawing and painting, allowing their works to come from emotion and feeling over thought. This process allows Imogen to work through any persisting emotions or thoughts that could otherwise become problematic, choosing to turn negative feelings into bright and fantastical beauty.
Imogen loves to create fantasy worlds and work with themes that push the limits of reality using watercolour paint, pencils and pens.
