Burnout
Mariah is a Queensland-based artist who works intuitively across mediums, though is mostly drawn to painting. For Mariah, creative practice is a sanctuary – a place to unmask, express, and process emotions freely and unapologetically, without the need to minimise or accommodate.
Living with ADHD and PTSD, Mariah's work often carries a sense of urgency – a need to externalise emotions and experiences that resist language yet demand expression. Each piece offers a moment of introspection: honest, unfiltered, and vulnerable; offering connection without expectation.
This work reflects a time of heaviness - when hope feels distant and rest isn’t restful. It speaks to the quiet loneliness of not being able to see any light for all the smoke.
