Bruny on the Rocks
Jen Fisher is a 48-year-old abstract landscape painter from Moggill, Queensland. She has been painting for nine years, drawing deep inspiration from the natural world. Her work reflects the emotional landscapes shaped by her experience living with depression for the past decade.
Through layered textures and organic forms, Jen explores the interplay between vulnerability and strength, chaos and calm. Nature serves as both her muse and her mirror. This is Jen’s second time exhibiting in the Recovered Futures Exhibition, a platform that resonates with her journey of healing through creativity. Her art invites viewers to pause, reflect, and find beauty in the imperfect and the unseen.
Inspired by a secluded Bruny Island shoreline, this painting merges observation and abstraction. Driftwood and rock forms are animated by flashes of orange-ochre lichen, while layered marks in the sky hint at shifting weather and tidal rhythms. Land, sea and memory interlace, evoking the quiet energy of place.
