Beacon of Strength
Inessa Ivascanin is an artist whose practice is deeply rooted in care, resilience, and lived experience. Working within the arts as an NDIS support worker, she witnesses daily the transformative power of creativity. As a parent navigating a child’s mental health journey, art has become both a therapeutic outlet and a place of refuge for Inessa.
Her work explores whimsical, magical worlds, rich with intricate detail and gentle narratives of escape, healing, and wonder. Using acrylics, mixed media, gesso, and gloss, she builds layered compositions that invite reflection and curiosity. Proud to be exhibiting with Recovered Futures, Inessa's work celebrates connection, emotional honesty, and the quiet strength found in imaginative expression.

'Beacon of Strength' shows resilience through the enduring symbol of the lighthouse, standing firm. I use heavy, textured layers to demonstrate the physical and emotional intensity of crashing waves and shifting skies. The near three-dimensional surface invites viewers into a space of tension and release. A luminous horizon of blue, violet, orange, and gold comes through the storm, bringing hope and guidance. This piece reflects the quiet strength we hold within, even when surrounded by uncertainty.
