By Ravyn Rayne

Ravyn Rayne is a 40-year-old artist and mother of two living on the Gold Coast. She has suffered most of her adult life from trauma and consequent self-esteem issues, resulting in drug addiction. Ravyn Rayne has now been proudly sober for over ten years.

Through art, Ravyn Rayne has found freedom and confidence. She counts herself extremely lucky to have been pointed in the direction of art therapy by the Benevolent Society, at a time when she needed it most. This single act changed the way in which she viewed both the world and herself.

Now, a decade later, this single mum proudly uses the artist name Ravyn Rayne, the middle names of her two daughters as a way to show her children the power of love.

'Believe' is a four-year study into my childhood. She has evolved from an abstract full of colour, to a white, washed-out cloud, then to a blue self-portrait, to what you see today. 'Believe' is a self-portrait, showing how I am made up of many layers, many ideas, all mixed together to create my perfect balance. Patched up, marked and put back together so many times; believing this time I can keep myself together. My power.
