Pieces of Me

Lyn describes herself as a 'serial creative', following her curiosity to create unique pieces across a variety of mediums. Her journey has included many challenges - burnout after a career in the caring profession, facing serious health obstacles that brought periods of intense inner struggle and deep introspection, and caring for both parents in their final journeys.

For Lyn, creating is a way to reach out and connect with others, giving form to the multitude of feelings and thoughts she carries. She often works with found or second-hand materials, reflecting her commitment to sustainability and her belief in the importance of caring for one another and our planet.

This piece was created while sitting in my favourite chair in the evenings, working with various fibres and experimenting with different techniques of weaving, coiling, and shaping baskets and forms. As I explored these mediums, the work evolved into 'Pieces of Me'- a reflection of my journey as an emerging artist, striving to piece together the many thoughts and feelings that come with embracing this identity.
