Monica is an Australian contemporary artist and the creative force behind Monicartist. Originally trained in engineering and completing a PhD, Monica turned to painting after experiencing burnout, trauma, and profound personal loss. Art became a place of healing, self-discovery, and emotional expression.

Inspired by flowers, memory, movement, and quiet human emotion, her work blends structured composition with softness and atmosphere. Monica’s paintings are known for their dreamy palettes, layered brushwork, and emotionally reflective presence. Her artistic style, described as 'emotional atmosphere realism' explores themes of resilience, tenderness, connection, and transformation. Through her work, Monica hopes to create art that offers viewers a sense of calm, emotional recognition, and beauty within everyday life.

'Mother of the Tides' was inspired by recurring dreams of carrying a baby, symbolising creation, renewal, and the beginning of a new chapter. The ocean reflects a woman’s emotional world - deep, powerful, and ever-changing. This artwork honours the quiet strength of nurturing something precious, whether it is a child, a dream, healing, or a new version of ourselves. Carrying calming and grounding energy, the piece invites softness, emotional balance, and trust in the natural flow of life and new beginnings.
