A Celebration of Lights
Despite a tumultuous journey with her physical and mental health, Brisbane-based artist Liz Pepper continues to pave her way forward - paintbrush in hand - sharing her work through her platform Colour of October.
For well over a decade, art has played a pivotal role in Liz's healing. Just as Liz has been transformed by events in her life, so too has her art. Once transfixed by replicating unadulterated reality, Liz's work now focuses on recreating a feeling and telling a story.
Often distinguished by bold colour and intentional mark-making, Liz’s paintings explore the energy in moments where overwhelming feelings of hope, joy, love, or pride converge. Liz believes celebrating such junctures ignites a necessary spark inside us all.

I’ve always had a particular adoration of cities’ bright lights, so having the privilege of travelling to Tokyo and seeing scenes like this was nothing short of magical. It was also a monumental accomplishment for me. Just five years ago, the idea of taking a trip like this, let alone doing it alongside a man I’m head over heels for, was simply unimaginable. Life can - and will - surprise you.
