Bloom

While Kerry’s passion for art was evident from a young age, it wasn’t supported by her teachers. She pushed it down and threw herself into other pursuits for several decades - but it didn’t stay hidden forever. During a mental health hospitalisation in 2019 following years of anxiety, depression, and two bouts of cancer, Kerry rediscovered her love of art. 

Kerry has a fascination with light and colour, and how they affect or convey mood. She is always surprised by the evolution of her paintings, and how they grow outside her expectations. Taking inspiration from landscapes and the human experience, Kerry works mainly in acrylic and mixed media, from her home studio in Petrie, Queensland.

Layers of bold magenta and textured green emerge through soft, ethereal whites, capturing nature’s raw, expressive rhythm - a dance of becoming. The abstract forms suggest flowers in motion - uncontained and alive - mirroring our own evolving journey. Each stroke invites reflection on resilience and transformation, urging us to embrace beauty in imperfection. This piece celebrates the quiet power of blooming - both in nature and within ourselves.
