Sunflowers
Harry is an artist from Ipswich, Queensland who paints in acrylics. He started painting at 84 years-old and was inspired by his daughter who paints as part of her recovery from mental health challenges.
Harry's work is inspired by current events, a sense of humour, and social statements, life experiences and places as a memory and story. Harry does not see himself as an artist, but rather a commentator on life, with the aim of giving people a smile.
For this exhibition, rather than comic art, Harry has provided a picture of an event, and a feel-good picture to bring a smile.
I was inspired by a field of sunflowers in Zambia which stretched to the horizon. 50 years later I can shut my eyes and still see them. The butterflies are my creation.
