Francie Evans is an emerging contemporary figurative and still life artist based in Brisbane/Meanjin.
Her works are typically grounded in realism and showcase a soft luminance and painterly brushstrokes reminiscent of the Impressionists, Pre-Raphaelites, and Romantics.
She began oil painting in 2021. Working as a medical scientist, and a mother to two young sons, she finds painting to be an opportunity to practice both mindfulness and escapism.
Over time, a series of works emerged known as ‘Sad Girl’ series, reflected in the faces of the women she was painting; Francie began to process and understand the anxiety and depression she was experiencing. Through it, Francie seeks to capture this feeling of freedom and inspire others to find their own paths towards self-discovery and growth.

‘Peace’ is the second painting of two; telling a story of hope. While battling through mental illness can feel hopeless, this piece tells a story of the peace after the storm.
No matter what we go through, there is always hope. Peace and happiness can be found on the other side, and we don’t forget what we have been through, but grow more resilient and stronger because of it.
