Cate Bond is a predominantly self-taught artist with a background in physiotherapy, fitness, experiential and creative arts therapy and music.
Following Cate's sister's suicide after a seven-year struggle with Bipolar Disorder, Cate turned to art to cope with her profound grief. Later, after a severe spinal cord injury, art helped Cate deal with unrelenting, chronic pain.
In 2004, Cate was diagnosed with Schizoaffective Disorder. Since this time, Cate has used art for self-expression, helping during her recovery journey.
"When clowning around using visual art, music and movement other problems are temporarily forgotten as one lives in the moment. There is also the satisfaction of completing a work which helps raise self esteem and improves mood."
