"While enjoying my outdoor bath one spring afternoon, I looked up at this pretty flower starting to bloom. The light just seemed to be dancing on the leaves, making them glow. Luckily, I had my phone and took a snapshot. I used it as a reference for this painting."
Sue Yule is a Brisbane-based oil painter, exploring the themes of nature and botanicals.
Sue's love of painting is driven by her fascination of how light moves across the subjects she paints. She is inspired by the nuances of different colours and the way the light dances and interacts with plants and flowers. Sue's aim is to capture the transience of light and infuse it into her paintings.
Sue's creative process starts with going on walks around her neighbourhood and throughout Brisbane's Botanic Gardens, collecting photos of plants and flowers in bloom which capture her eye.
