"This piece was inspired by a distinctive writing style I saw on a tattoo and loved. I thought I could bring the same style to a painting. I had combined colours together before and was confident these would work. 2Pac was an artist in his own right and it was great to be able to paint him."
Pauly Jay is an artist from Brisbane who loves working with acrylics and spray cans. Inspired by street art from a young age, Pauly earned cash at school by doing artwork on his classmates' trucker hats. He has maintained and built upon his passion for art ever since.
Pauly spent the last 20 years working as a barber, which is a craft that many artists thrive in. Having experienced anxiety, stress and burnout upon opening his business, Pauly appreciated the support of those around him who have been through similar difficulties.
Now a fulltime artist, Pauly continues to experiment and try new things each time he paints. He has a desire to keep learning and asks plenty of questions of everyone, with a goal of continuous improvement.
