Stew is an artist who has lived with mental health challenges since his early teens. Over the years, he has discovered many ways to cope, with art becoming one of the most rewarding outlets - a source of immersion, diversion, and joy. While he enjoys working across a wide range of mediums, and appreciates the simplicity of pencil on paper, Stew's greatest passion remains pastel painting.

Beyond this, Stew creates intricate miniature engravings on stone, inspired by ancient seal stones - tiny works of art that resemble miniature paintings carved into stone. He also crafts a variety of artistic jewellery, extending his creativity into wearable forms.

I enjoy working across many mediums, including pastels and drawing, but I am especially drawn to engraving miniatures into stone—much like the ancient intaglio seal stones. This artform exists somewhere between sculpture and drawing: a tiny image that can be pressed into wax to leave its impression. The engravings are created using copper points and diamond powder - a process that demands intense concentration. At times, the facial features I carve are smaller than just a few millimetres.
