Maureen is a Brisbane-born artist living with bipolar affective disorder 1. Having experienced the challenges of poverty and social isolation, art is a vital way for Maureen to connect and engage meaningfully with others.

I live in a flood-prone area of Rocklea, Brisbane. Regular inundations have come to shape and define how we live and relate to one another around here. Rents are low. Houses are high set. Second-hand cars for sale might have been flooded. There is plenty of space, and lots of birds.
