We've Got A Reason To Sing
Lani is a Brisbane-based artist using primarily coloured pencils to create vibrant artworks that aim to draw viewers in and make them think. Lani believes in the transformative nature of art so much that, alongside her own visual art practice, she became an art therapist to support others in the process of transforming their experiences through art.
Lani's personal art practice focusses on whimsy, absurdity, playfulness, surrealism, observations, and sometimes carries an undertone of moral warning akin to fairytales or parables. Alana uses her art to express emotion, work through anxiety, as a form of prayer, or to just experience delight.

What are the elements of life that contribute to being well? These often feel under-discussed in the mental health sector, so this image reflects some of what helps me find a sense of belonging and mental wellness: community, shared meaning, and a feeling of togetherness. There is something particularly special about congregational singing - it’s a deeply sensory experience. Shifting my focus away from myself during these moments truly helps. A praise song from church is subtly written in the background.
