Andrew K is a Brisbane-based contemporary artist whose oil and charcoal works confront the intensity of lived experience with raw emotional clarity. His practice is driven by a need to process the world’s complexities - exploring themes of belonging, inequality, environmental fragility, and human connection. Andrew's distinctive technique - marked by bold brushwork and charcoal etched into wet oil paint - embraces imperfection as a form of reality.

The mangroves of West End fight to survive; striving to dig into the riverbank. They echo the push and pull between nature and urbanisation, permanence and impermanence. These forms - gnarled, resilient, unapologetically local - remind me that identity is organic and evolving, shaped by histories we can’t always see but deeply feel. In a landscape being rewritten, the mangroves remain - holding space for reflection, resistance, and renewal.
