Quiet Reflection
Andrew is an autodidactic artist from Redcliffe who creates work with bold colour choices and a hidden complexity of simplicity. With a keen eye for design and composition, Andrew’s work is deceptively illustrative. He aims to evoke a conversation with the viewer, inviting them to offer their interpretation and share their story. He finds creating artwork gives him a voice when the right words escape him.
Andrew has experienced difficult times with depression, insomnia, and anxiety, but through treatment, therapy, and the unconditional love and support from his family, he finds each day is a little brighter.
I created this piece as I continue my exploration on the concept of portraits without faces, capturing the essence of the person, a moment of reflection. I want to stay comfortable in my illustrative style yet deliver an open narrative of my work. I want to paint what cannot be seen, only felt.
