Over the Busway
Brisbane-based artist Michael Thacker believes the vastness of Hollywood’s illusion mirrors the naïveté of artistic individuality, with the deep silence of such culture compelling a kind of spirituality that inspires the instinctive painter. He reflects on how imaginative lives often emerge from the freedom that comes with time.
Michael also observes that some young people connect with naïve art immediately and directly, as they are not yet constrained by aesthetic conventions. In their openness, they share the same imaginative clarity and lucidity that characterises the essence of naïve art.
'Over the Busway' reflects on the brevity of life and the repetitiveness of daily routine. In this work, the transformer takes the form of a sniper.
