By Emma Darrouzet

Through studying a Bachelor of Creative Industries with Honours in Fine Painting, Emma laid the foundation for a lifetime of creating. After teaching and leading the art experience program at Sydney Children’s Hospital for many years, Emma immersed herself in health programs and exhibitions across both Sydney and Brisbane/Meanjin.

Her work explores the use of colour as therapy and catharsis, touching on relatable themes and delightful visuals. Emma's work is an exploration of the mind when people offer their unsolicited and ill-informed advice. The titles of the pieces are meant to satirise, while also evoking thought and introspection.

Emma's work aims to provide a voice for those who are too often ignored, dismissed, and disbelieved.

Behind closed doors, struggles bloom unseen. This work carries the weight of invisible battles, where even love cannot always reach. The title borrows from hollow reassurances, twisting them into irony. Here, silence and satire merge, creating space for the unspoken ache of those unheard and misunderstood.
