By Kim Price

Kim is a Brisbane-based abstract and collage artist who creates colourful, expressive, and energetic works designed to transport viewers to new places. Her paintings invite exploration beyond what is immediately visible, revealing hidden layers of discovery beneath the surface.

Each piece is built up with many layers, reflecting Kim’s fascination with history. She incorporates fragments from the past - such as photographs, sheet music, letters, maps, or magazine clippings - embedding stories within her work.

For Kim, art is both a creative practice and a valuable tool of support and distraction as she navigates the challenges of caring for a family member with mental health struggles.

This artwork seeks to highlight the importance of human touch, especially in times of struggle. Holding someone's hand - a simple gesture of connection and empathy - can be incredibly powerful and make a meaningful difference in someone’s day. I hope this piece serves as a reminder of how impactful such a small, compassionate act can be.
