General Thoughts 2o2
Alex is a visual artist and infamous graffiti writer who exhibits his work commercially. Having now expanded into abstract painting and illustrations, his art is all about emotions.
Starting with black canvases, Alex builds layers of thick bright strokes with his finger, sculpting whatever expressions come out of his mind. There's no plan, per se, other than capturing emotions, mostly relating to grief, anger, torment, and loneliness.
Alex paints quite close to his heart and favours bright hues, to balance the continuum of everyday life.
I painted this piece at Belmont Private Hospital earlier this year. It reflects the confusion and torment within my mind, with fleeting faces competing for space on the canvas. The result carries an air of chaos, a juxtaposition of both darkness and light. It speaks to the continuum that plagues me.
