By Carolyn McCosker

Born on a farm in northwestern NSW, Carolyn has always held a deep connection to the Australian landscape. As a young adult, her travels through Southeast Asia and India broadened her perspective and sparked a lifelong interest in cultural diversity.

From 1992 to 2006, Carolyn taught and practised visual art in Brisbane while studying at the Brisbane Institute of Art and QUT. She holds a Diploma and Bachelor of Fine Art, and completed Art Therapy studies in 2008.

Since returning to regional NSW in 2009, the landscape has remained central to her practice. Moving between plein air painting and studio work, Carolyn creates pieces where memory, emotion, and story intertwine.

I’ve always felt deeply connected to nature - it’s my refuge and source of healing. When I’m immersed in the natural world, I feel a profound sense of belonging. My work reflects this bond, using stylised landscapes, rich patterns, and vibrant colours to express nature’s beauty and our interconnectedness. Each piece is a meditation on balance, rhythm, and the invisible threads that link us to the earth and each other. I invite viewers to reconnect with their own place in nature.
