Emerging from the Emberdream
April Rose is a Brisbane-based mixed media artist whose work is deeply informed by her lived experience of unseen disability and mental health challenges. Through an intuitive and experimental process, April creates layered, surreal landscapes that that give shape to unspoken emotions and the hidden moments beneath the surface.
For April, art is her way of navigating a world that often overlooks invisible struggles. Her practice serves both as a tool of self-regulation and an act of transformation - turning vulnerability into vision, and internal chaos into creative expression.

‘Emerging from the Emberdream’ reflects a moment of quiet transformation, where a mysterious presence stands with a glowing portal. Bridging fading memories and capturing new light, the artwork captures the feeling of stepping through an unseen threshold - both vulnerable and hopeful - into a space of change and renewal. This work holds my experience of navigating inner shifts, inviting viewers to connect with their journeys of growth and the subtle power of becoming.
