Born in New Zealand, Helen has been creating art for as long as she can remember. Working across a variety of mediums and techniques, she embraces experimentation and enjoys discovering new ways to bring ideas to life.

Living with anxiety and clinical depression, art provides a meditative space for Helen to focus, reflect, and embrace creative escape. The process of making is as important as the finished work, offering moments of calm, curiosity, and joy.

Helen's work is often characterised by colourful, character-filled imagery infused with humour and playfulness. Through vibrant compositions and imaginative storytelling, Helen aims to create engaging works that spark connection, delight, and a sense of wonder.

In this work, I use layers of colour and texture with a palette knife as my main tool, creating a space that is suggestive of a landscape without defining one. Hints of horizon, water, and atmosphere emerge and dissolve, inviting multiple interpretations. I am interested in the balance between recognition and ambiguity, allowing the viewer to find their own meaning, memory, or emotion within the painting’s shifting forms and light.
