“BLUE”
Russell is an artist and sculptor who primarily works with wire and recycled materials. His practice often explores the natural environment, its inhabitants - including humans - and the impact we have upon the world. Russell also addresses broader societal issues that affect us all.
Based in Southeast Queensland, Russell has exhibited widely and received numerous awards for his work. In his series "BLUE", he reflects on both his difficult childhood and the recent loss of friends to suicide.

I have created this small series of sculptures to express the anguish I carry from childhood abuse, as well as the deep feelings of depression and loneliness my mentor and dear friend experienced before his suicide.
