Dee Dee has struggled with schizophrenia, anxiety, and depression for her entire adult life, without ever really finding a way to express herself. Four years ago, she started painting and found it a positive way to cope with her intense emotions. Painting takes her away from it all; she can completely relax, focus, and lose all sense of time. 

Through her work, Dee Dee embraces bright colours to covey happiness, and uses texture to make paintings you want to touch. She is excited to exhibit her artwork at Recovered Futures and see the works and stories of other artists.

My koala wears a crown of flowers
Kindness, love, and peace she showers
She makes me happy
Makes me smile
Makes me want to stay a while
Soft and pretty, she sits for hours
Nature's love is all of ours.
