By Lani's Art by Alana Sawrey

Lani is a Brisbane-based artist using primarily coloured pencils to create vibrant artworks that aim to draw viewers in and make them think. Lani believes in the transformative nature of art so much that, alongside her own visual art practice, she became an art therapist to support others in the process of transforming their experiences through art.

Lani's personal art practice focusses on whimsy, absurdity, playfulness, surrealism, observations, and sometimes carries an undertone of moral warning akin to fairytales or parables. Alana uses her art to express emotion, work through anxiety, as a form of prayer, or to just experience delight.
