The Ebb of Being Human
Everything Leigh-Ellen Roundhill does is about making sense of a chaotic world, which she often feels does not allow her to belong or fit in. Her artwork tends to be in-the-moment, which results in a unique creation every single time.
For Leigh-Ellen, art is an escape, allowing freedom of emotional expression, meaning, and self-discovery. This allows the viewer to connect with the underlying message in a way that speaks to them. Leigh-Ellen has recently rekindled a passion for creating clay sculptures and is currently building a series of artworks and ceramics to be exhibited.
I was inspired to create this piece, based on the bird of paradise flower, following the death of a close friend. It explores the intricate dance of emotion - light and calm, dark and turbulent, vibrant and joyous - that are woven into every human experience. The work reflects the ongoing challenge of acceptance and the need to continually adapt and manage within the ever-changing flow of life - much of which lies beyond our control.
