Release

Melissa is a Gold Coast-based artist who has been painting and drawing from a young age. She went on to study graphic design and digital art, specialising in mixed media.  
 
Melissa is a survivor of domestic violence and a support to her son, who has survived self-harm and suicide attempts. These factors, paired with the unexpected loss of a family member, led Melissa to develop her 'Breath of Choice' painting series. 
 
Nowadays, Melissa carves out consistent time for painting and writing, ensuring creativity remains a priority in her life.

This piece is uniquely made with natural plant dyes and acrylic paints. The emotions communicated through my chosen colours represent memories, sadness, grief, fear, exhaustion, longing, and caring.  

Gone now, as your insides flow outside, giving a relationship its final release.
