Danielle Hodgson is a multidisciplinary visual artist who brings together her background in ecology (B.S. Ecology, Hons) with her creative practice. She draws inspiration from organic forms, transforming them into abstract compositions designed to spark curiosity and evoke a sense of energy in viewers.

Diagnosed with schizophrenia at the age of 27, Danielle has rebuilt her sense of self through the arts. She shares her journey and creative process on social media, using her platforms to inspire others and advocate for mental health awareness.

I created this artwork as a parody of how 'posh' the appearance and behaviour of the Bush Stone Curlew (Burhinus grallarius) is. These highly intelligent endemic birds have adapted to living in urban environments and are a common sight at dusk, particularly in Southeast Queensland.
