The name 'Maisha' is of Swahili origin, meaning 'life' or 'alive', symbolising vitality and the essence of being. It is often given to girls to represent the hope and celebration of life. In my master’s program, I reflect on complex therapeutic content inspired by the experiences of African refugees and asylum seekers. My watercolour piece evokes African landscapes, animal tracks, and cultural patterns, capturing the profound beauty and resilience of these cultures.
