Lifer

Clinton is a humble and sensitive 65-year-old artist who grew up in Hobart and now lives a simple life on the Gold Coast. After working as a chef for 25 years, he was diagnosed with schizophrenia at the age of 40, following major stresses in his work and relationships.

He has since found peace and healing through his Christian faith, with much of his artwork inspired by his relationship with Jesus and the voice of God. Over the years, his artistic journey has shifted from impressionism to surrealism, before finding its most authentic expression in abstract expressionism- a unique style he describes as almost tribal, deeply personal, and true to himself.

'Lifer' is an ode to my favourite musical band called mercy me (Christian rock). Their music inspires and motivates me, providing the spiritual fuel I need to paint.
