Latin Dancers
Michelle Byrne has lived with a mental illness for many years; an experience that began in her youth and became more challenging during her late teens. At school she often struggled with her studies, yet found comfort in spending her lunch hours painting. Art gave Michelle a sense of hope and direction, helping her reconnect with intuition and happiness during difficult times.
Today, Michelle remains a passionate artist, regularly attending an art group where she explores a variety of creative projects. For Michelle, art is both a personal and social practice, fostering creativity while also allowing her to build friendships with fellow artists.
This painting depicts two flamenco dancers locked in a back-to-back pose, captured mid-dance in a rhythmic and spirited stance. There is a strong sense of movement, and the intense eye contact between them demonstrates their confidence and connection. Painted using acrylics, the artwork features rich reds and earthy browns that beautifully convey the mood and passion of the dance - a wonderful portrayal of two Latin dancers existing in perfect harmony.
