Hiding in Plain Sight
Drawing for Walt Disney has shaped Running Duck Studio's skills and style. In 2012, the artist's partner was involved in a motorbike accident, causing neck, spine, and brain damage. Being an integral part of their ongoing support and recovery, the artist has seen both sides of hidden struggles and pain, the lack of visible injuries often causing unsympathetic reactions.
With their own journey and struggles subconsciously expressed through drawings, Running Duck Studio's artwork has become more light-hearted and uplifting, illustrating the small but special moments that can be found in everybody's lives. This has been an almost involuntary decision to bring balance once again to life.
'For that light-hearted place in your soul when you need it.'

‘Hiding in Plain Sight’ explores the tawny frogmouth owl's mastery of camouflage within a tree hollow. This work reflects on the quiet strength of presence and observation in our lives, and the wisdom of knowing when to blend in. For me, it symbolises personal progress - the understanding that meaningful growth often happens not through grand gestures, but in the quiet moments. It’s through finding our own hidden spaces, observing, and simply being, even when we feel we are 'hiding in plain sight'.
