Introducing our 2023 Curator

We are delighted to share that Nicola Holly from the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University will be joining us as Curator in 2023.

After studying a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and a Master of Modern and Contemporary Arts at University College Cork, Irish-born Nicola has been working in the Queensland art world since 2010.

Starting her Australian art career as Gallery Assistant at Heiser Gallery in Fortitude Valley, Nicola went on to lead the Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery for three years as Gallery Director in the beautiful Southern Downs.

Upon relocating back to Brisbane, Nicola landed her current role - Galleries Manager for Queensland College of Art, Griffith University. QCA Galleries has five exhibition spaces that primarily showcase student work and emerging artists, while fostering experimentation and innovation.

Joining us as Curator this year, Nicola brings a wealth of experience, a zest for life and an impeccable eye for showcasing diverse art practices.

"I see the Recovered Futures Art Exhibition as a welcoming place to confront societal bias and stereotypes around mental health. This is something I view as extremely important and I am thrilled to be part of the team this year."

When she's not presenting art to the community, Nicola stays busy as President of the Irish Australian Support Association of Queensland. IASAQ is a charity organisation that supports Irish Australians in times of isolation, vulnerability and crisis, as well as connecting people of all ages to their culture and heritage.

Please join us in welcoming Nicola!
