"This painting represents my liberation. The fall of the water on the rocks emits sounds that convey the search for a free soul."
From an early age Francela Osuna experienced severe panic attacks, anxiety and extreme mood changes. She was diagnosed with depression and bipolar disorder, which was successfully treated and managed by her doctors.
Due to the political, economic and social situation in her home country, Francela was forced to migrate to Australia looking for better life opportunities. As a result of difficulties surrounding the migration process and other challenges, Francela relapsed, triggering a new mental health crisis which resulted in a hospital admission for a few months.
Art is currently playing a major role in Francela's ongoing recovery process. In painting, Francela has found a safe place that allows her to be creative and express herself without mental health struggles.
