Having lived with mental illness since her teens, Kim found herself in a cycle of depression, anxiety, and suicidality after retiring from academia due to unsustainable pressure and burnout. Desperately seeking to fill the depressive void, Kim remembered times when art had filled her with joy. She set about finding an art school that understood the impact of art on mental health. Fast forward four years and Kim now has the confidence to paint on her own, sharing her work on the internet and through exhibitions. The greatest challenge was achieving the misty window and water droplet effect. I was told that realistic water effects were most difficult to achieve, yet I accepted the challenge. After much trial and error, I developed a technique that satisfies my perfectionism and makes my heart sing each time I see it.
