Judith's love of basketry started with her grandmother who created baskets for therapy as she was vision impaired. Judith would help her grandmother with her weaving and prompt her when she missed bits.
Judith started weaving seriously in the 1990's living on a remote property. Crafts have always helped with her mental health, but money was scarce. Judith grew lots of plants and started weaving with plant fibres. Now living on the Sunshine Coast/ Kabi Kabi/Jinibara she grows plants specifically for weaving.
Weaving with natural plant fibres is both creative and calming, which provides time to relax, and meditate. Judith's weaving helps her focus and cope with life's challenges.

"Tondo" the Circle of Life is woven using an upcycled fan guard as the frame. The weaving materials are plant fibres grown on our property on the Sunshine Coast. Gymea Lily, Pandanus, Banana Fibre, Palm Inflorescence, Iris, Red Hot Poker, and vines foraged from our patch and local properties. Growing the plants, nurturing, harvesting, drying, and preparing the plants, then weaving the plants into a work of art from start to finish, connects me to the circle of life.
