"I use ancient symbols and shapes that speak to a core connection of the mind, body and soul through colour. I play with ideas anchored in the psyche and invite the viewer into my internal world of magic and spiritual dimensions.
This dynamic explosion of colour displays the power or force from the centre of our relationship to soul and spirit, and draws our attention back to the consistent human quest for connection to the eternal."
Tommy Daenguthai is a Brisbane-based emerging artist. His practice has seen him exhibit at many Brisbane and Gold Coast venues in the last five years, as both a collaborative and solo artist though organisations including Art from the Margins, Access Arts and Footprints.
Creative process, human connection and community participation are at the core of Tommy’s drive to explore, share and validate his creative experiences.
Layered references to nature, community and spirituality are recurring themes throughout Tommy's work. From delicate naive depictions of daily minutiae to bold colours and abstract landscapes, Tommy maintains connection to self and place.
